I do refinishing and restoration. I decided to add a page showing some of the steps I go through. For me this is more a labor of love, there is unfortunately many hours involved in this work that I have a hard time charging for. I just really enjoy it, and keep taking the work. I got this table dropped off at the shop and knew it would be a good example.

Step one, I take it apart if I can. Then I assess what can be saved and what has to be made new. After removing the old finish I glue the piece back together, making it as solid as new. One leg has been stained already in the photo. I tested the color I liked first, then stained a whole leg to make sure I still liked it.
While I had the piece apart I made a list of things that needed to be made. Here are the pieces that were missing/damaged on this little table. I made them from walnut.I thought the end skirt I had to duplicate deserved a closer shot,  it's a perfect match. This is it all back together. New and old pieces, stained and finished. It gets a marble top. I only have room for six pictures on this page, so I only put the woodworking pictures. The top is easy.
