Here are some questions I get asked, feel free to contact me with any others, Daren.

Q: Where do you get your logs to saw?

A: From many sources, tree removal services, storm damaged trees needing to be felled for safety, homeowners removing trees. All the logs I keep for my own use are not harvested for the lumber alone, I am just putting them to a good use instead of letting them go to waste.

Q: Will you cut a tree down in my yard for the lumber you can get from it?

A: No, I can refer you to more than one quality tree service though. I work with many to salvage logs once they are down. If you visit my page "Have a log for sale?" maybe you will understand why I cannot do $1000 worth of tree service work for a $100 log.

Q: How do you saw logs into lumber?

A: I use a bandmill, an accurate and efficient way to sawmill.

Q: I have a log I need sawn, but can't move it, can you come and get it?

A: That can be arranged, but in most cases the log fetching is more costly than the sawing. I can saw a log in a matter of minutes, spending hours going after is something I have to charge for. It is best if at all possible if you can bring them to me.

Q: How big of a log and/or long can you saw?

A: I can saw 16' 6" long. A 34" across log will fit on the mill with no extra effort, but I can saw them as big as you can get them to me. I 1/4 the log with a 36" chainsaw, I charge by the hour for this and give an estimate before I start.

Q: Do you share cut?

A: "Share cutting" is when you have a log you don't need all the lumber or don't want to pay me to mill it. I take my share of the lumber and saw for free. My share depends on the type of lumber, this is negotiated before work begins.

Q: How long do I have to wait for my logs to be sawn?

A: I am never usually more than 2 weeks behind. The process is faster if you can leave the trailer you brought the logs on, I saw the lumber and restack it on the trailer and call you when it is done.

Q: I want a piece of furniture built but don't know exactly what I need, can you work without a plan?

A: A picture would help, but you can give me a basic description and I will draw a sketch for your approval and work from it. I can design and built anything.

Q: I have a piece of furniture (chair, table...) and I want one just like it, can you make one?

A: Yes, I just need the piece and I will duplicate it.

Q: Do you do antique furniture repair?

A: Yes I can make replacement spindles etc. on my lathe. I can repair or remake any needed parts.

Q: If I order a custom piece of furniture how long will I have to wait for it?

A: Everything I build is different, it depends on it's size and materials needed among other factors. I am usually 2-3 weeks behind, but can always give a realistic time table before you order.
